Corn Bread (remix)29/2/2020
Corn Bread is an ode to Chris Cornell and to give comfort to everyone who suffers from depression.
The title is meant to be funny, because of the Dutch saying: "The one his death is the other his bread." Many thanks to Brian van der Wal on drums and bass guitar. Drums recorded at Bokrock Studio Deventer (NL). I made a remix, because I was too enthusiastic, but after a while not really happy with it, and also because this song is so close to my heart. It just needed it. Probably every instrument could be performed, and also sound better if I could have the chance to work with people who are interested in my work. Summer Love (demo video)20/2/2020
This song I came up with on a Saturday morning in December 2019.
It was almost Christmas time, and my heart was out to someone from the past. The same day I recorded the first demos, and recently made a new mix of one of those. The electric guitar was added a few days later, because it took a while to come up with a nice idea for that, and not forget to film it either. The electric guitar I use is a Music Man Axis Super Sport. I always loved the shape, versatility, sound, look and playability of that guitar, and I do sense some Eddie Van Halen vibes when I play it. The amplifier is a Mesa Boogie Stiletto Deuce I, 1st channel, crunch mode. I think I had just one Maxon Tubescreamer in front of the amp. Cabinet: Marshall 1936 JCM800 loaded with G12-65's. Doubler and stereo delay added via DAW. The acoustic guitar is a Martin D18, and I used the aftermarket built-in LR Baggs Anthem pickup for this recording. I think it's better to record with mic's, but this is the next best thing in my opinion, and it's far more relaxed to record with just one cable. In the future my intention is to provide this track from acoustic drums, but that can take a while maybe. Spring (video)15/2/2020
On an early spring day in March 2018, after a long absence, the sun made itself felt. The feeling of longing for spring was strengthened by it, and I happened to have created this song just before. 1 + 1 = 3 I thought then.

A few days ago I released the video of New Edge, but now it's on Bandcamp as well. Enjoy!
New Edge11/2/2020
In the spring of 2016 I installed a pair of speaker stands in the corners of my studio, and the feeling of a nice place and a similar sound inspired me to come up with this music. That is why the song was given the working title "New S." (New Studio).
I then changed it into "New Edge". For a long time there was a digital drum track underneath, but last fall Melle Rodewijk played this drum part. Guitarists tend to make strange faces during their playing, but apparently drummers can do it too! ;) It gives a certain charm to this video, and I really enjoy it. Well done Melle! #HenriH #HenriHCycle #NewEdge #ProgRock #ClassicRock #Rock #IndieRock #DIY |
