HenriH - Epos30/12/2023
The year 2023 for me personally and creatively:
- Further depth in photography - Created new music (videos) and musical ideas for HenriH - Musical life's work Disphoria completed with Eyestare To top it all off, after I did a remix of Landsphere last August, check out Epos, the second song from my first solo album Landsphere. I played a new guitar solo for this. I would love to swap the electronic drums for real drums, but I've had a lot of fun with the process of creating the electronic drums, which are a really nice addition to the musical arsenal of a musician like me. There are still a number of new ideas on the shelf, but the question is always when, how, what, where, etc. "Everything in due time" Secretly I would also like to play my music with a band... and I'll always keep on dreaming. HenriH - Deep Sea2/7/2023
A song I published in July 2021, right after Erik Schenkel played the drums.
I changed a lot to the mix and a bit to the video. If you'd rather listen to the music only, please have a look at my Bandcamp site. Hope you like it, and if you do, consider becoming a patron. Backyard Jam24/12/2022
I released two videos with the same music within two months.
You can read all about it in the description on Youtube. If you like what I'm doing, please consider supporting me by becoming a patron on my Patreon website. Jack23/4/2022
Four years ago I had already come up with the idea for this song, because I wanted to make a nice video for a lunchroom of a befriended couple.
While I was filming there, I heard music by Jack Johnson, which fitted well with the atmosphere of the lunchroom. That's why I recorded an idea myself and added it into the video, but only at the beginning of 2021 did I elaborate it a bit more with "Jack" as a result. A while ago I released a video with the same song that I shot with my drone. If you like sunset time lapses, you may certainly like it. Again many thanks to Erik Schenkel for his atmospheric and appropriate contribution on the drums, and BokRock Studio Deventer (NL) for the opportunity to record them. Over three years ago I had released "Tales" as the third song of my first solo album "Landsphere", but I hadn't made a video of it yet.
That's why I recorded and filmed a new version with my recently purchased Fujifilm X-T20 camera in 4K. The main riff is based on the song "Idol Tales" of Project Eyestare, another project of mine. It has a completely different feel though, and I tried to lay down some nice guitar tones. I am an independent musician and like to keep making music and music videos that way, so if you like what I'm doing, please consider becoming a patron on my Patreon site. Sunset With Jack15/2/2022

Last Sunday the sun shone and I waited until “Golden Hour”, the hour before sunset.
I had been thinking about making a video of the Zandweteringpark in Deventer for some time now. I also wanted to experiment with slowing down (and speeding up) images, which I applied on a number of points. It gives a nice effect. For this I used a resolution and frame rate of 4K 50fps so that the images can be slowed down twice and still look good. I used an ND8 filter, maybe one step too much, because the images were a bit underexposed. However, the D-Cinelike mode, in which I shot the images, has proven itself again, because the result of the color post-processing is quite beautiful in my opinion. The music was found fairly quickly, because I hadn't made a video for this song yet. I think it fits nicely and I couldn't resist making a remix moreover, which you can also listen to on Bandcamp. The title “Poem” comes from “Tales”, which in turn is derived from “Idol Tales”, a Project Eyestare song, but that aside. After all, a poem is a kind of tale.
Poem's chords are partly the same as Idol Tales, but played at a lower position and also in a different tempo and rhythm. Just like with “Dark Sphere”, my intention was to ask a singer to write lyrics and a vocal line, but unfortunately that didn't work out either. That is why I am publishing it now as I had already recorded it more than two years ago with Melle Rodewijk on drums. The only difference is that I remixed it and played a new bass line as well. The album "Cycle", my second album, is now complete. Now I can continue working on album “III”. Dark Sphere20/1/2022
Dark Sphere originated as one of the first songs when I started using my new studio at the end of 2015.
I've had the idea for a long time and tried to ask singers to write lyrics and vocal lines for it, but that didn't work out. That's why I recently added a guitar solo to it, one that deviates slightly from my beaten path. The song has a dark atmosphere and you soon think of Black Sabbath-like solos, but the harmonic minor scale is also possible. I went for the latter, something I used to do, but then I didn't realize it was about harmonic minor, I just did my thing. …and I basically still do… \m/ Unfortunately the camera stopped filming me halfway through, because it ran out of disk space, but the footage of Melle Rodewijk smashing his drum kit should do the trick as well. In the end it's about the music and a video is really just an afterthought, so please consider listening to it on Bandcamp as well. Revelation originated between Christmas and new years eve 2021, when I was playing one of my acoustics.
I thought it blends nicely with an electric guitar with some ICE delay from my Timeline delay pedal. A few days later I created a rhythm and lead part and there we have another song ready. I experimented quite a bit with the mix, because I wanted it to sound better, like I also did with "Mizar" a few weeks ago. Especially the drums have been treated with extra attention.
